Steve and Vicki Staton

Steve is a native of Marshville, NC; he moved to Rockwell in 1968 when his parents, Roy and Geraldine Staton, purchased Powles Funeral Home. Steve is a 1970 graduate of East Rowan High School, a 1974 graduate of Western Carolina University with a BS in Medical Technology, and a 1977 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He joined the family-owned funeral home in 1977 and is currently owner and President. Steve is active in many civic affairs and is a member of Christiana Lutheran Church. He is married to Vicki Hess Staton has two sons, Matt P. Staton and Will F. Staton.

Vicki is a Rowan County native, having grown up in Faith. She is a 1970 Graduate of East Rowan High School and a 1974 graduate of Western Carolina University, with a BS Degreen in Speech Pathology. She will be joining the staff on a part-time basis in the fall.
 

Matt Staton
Funeral Service Licensee

Matt is a native of Rockwell having graduated from East Rowan High School in 2000. Matt is a 2004 graduate of Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Business Administration, and a 2006 graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Indiana. Matt has worked at the funeral home since high school but officially joined the staff as a Funeral Service Licensee in September 2006. Matt is married to Adrian Stevens Staton and resides in Gold Hill, NC.

 
William T. "Tom" Baucom
Assistant Manager and Funeral Service Licensee

Tom Baucom is a native of Albemarle, NC and a resident of Rockwell since 1980. A graduate of Wingate College and a 1971 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Tom joined Powles Funeral Home in 1979. He is a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Rockwell, member and past President of the Faith Civitan Club and a member of the Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge #657. He is married to Donna Smith Baucom and has two children, Tracy B. Hegler and Kelly T. Baucom, and one grandson. Tom realizes the importance of a loving and caring family and this attribute carries over to the families he serves.
 
P. Doug Bare

Doug is a native of China Grove and has lived in Rockwell since 1991. He is a 1981 graduate of South Rowan High School and a 1988 graduate of Salisbury Business College. Doug joined Powles Funeral Home in 1991. He is married to Julie Hoover Bare and they have two sons, Joshua and Nick. An avid deer hunter, he enjoys fishing and camping with his family. Doug realizes the importance of showing great attention to detail for every family he serves.
 
Russ Roakes

Russ has been with Powles Funeral Home since 2003. He is a graduate of Salisbury High School, Rowan Cabarrus Community College and is also a graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College. He is a member of First United Methodist Church in Salisbury. Russ is married to Dakeita Kluttz Roakes and enjoys fishing and traveling.
 
Wanda Kluttz
Funeral Director and Aftercare-Preneed Coordinator

Wanda has been with Powles Funeral Home since 1994. She is a graduate of East Rowan High School and Fayetteville Technical Community College. Wanda is a life-long resident of Rockwell. She is a member of Grace Lowerstone United Church of Christ, where she is active in both the choir and the hand bell choir. Wanda is married to Don Kluttz and has one daughter, Dakeita Kluttz Roakes. Wanda enjoys everything in life.
 
Terry Jones
Funeral Assistant


Terry is a life-long Rockwell resident, a graduate of East Rowan High School and is married to Cindy Bassinger Jones. Terry is very active in his church, First Baptist Church of Rockwell, and is an Assistant Fire Chief with the Rockwell Rural Fire Department. Terry joined Powles Funeral Home in 1985 and believes that all families should be treated with dignity and respect.
 
Cindy B. Jones
Funeral Service Assistant


Cindy is a life-long resident of Rockwell. A graduate of East Rowan High School, she has been with Powles Funeral Home since 1987. Cindy is very active in her church, First Baptist Church of Rockwell, where she serves as Treasurer and Red Cross Blood Drive coordinator. She is married to Terry Jones.
