Cremation Options
Powles Funeral Home provides dignified cremation options to meet the personalized desires of families.
Cremation is the method of reducing the body to bone fragments through the application of intense heat. Usually taking between two and three hours, this occurs in a cremation chamber or retort. Remaining fragments are processed into a finer substance and placed in a transitory container. Before being returned to the family, the remains are transferred to an urn for permanent containment. Several options are available for those who prefer cremation.
Cremation can occur after a funeral or after a memorial service, or the urn may even be present at the memorial service, dependent on the families requests.
A time for visitation may occur either before or after the funeral at which time the casket may be open or closed according to the preferences of the family. After cremation, a public or private service may be arranged for final placement of cremated remains.
Cremation can be less costly than a traditional funeral, but it is important that you discuss your preferences with the funeral director to allow him to offer you alternatives and suggestions that most appropriately fit you and your families needs.
