Roger "Buster" Hunsucker, 65, of Rockwell, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019, at his home, after a five year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 19, 1953, in Charlotte, NC to the late Edward Avon Hunsucker and Verlie Virginia Baker Hunsucker. Buster attended South Rowan and A.L. Brown High Schools. He was an auto body painter and then worked for Rockwell Radio and Electric for many years as an Airport Electrician. Mr. Hunsucker loved watching Westerns, enjoyed traveling to Cape Lookout where he and his wife were volunteers during the summer, and he loved to spend time with his six grandchildren. He was a strong-willed man who never complained, but loved to laugh, joke, and have a good time.
In addition to his parents, Buster was preceded in death by his brother, David Hunsucker.
Roger is survived by his wife, Glenda Steen Hunsucker, whom he married December 19, 1970; two daughters, Sherri Hunsucker Duncan of Salisbury and Starr Hunsucker Shive and husband, Brad, of Salisbury; six grandchildren, Taylor Smith of Albemarle, Mitchell and Mason Duncan of Faith, and Bryson, Braden, and Blake Shive of Salisbury; brother, Mike Hunsucker of Rockwell; and nephew, Travis Hunsucker of Rockwell.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM on Monday, April 29, 2019, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, April 29, in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Eric Flouton.
