Daniel Wayne Michael, 38, of Rockwell, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019 at home.

He was born May 3, 1980 in Salisbury, NC to Don Michael, Jr. and Debora Michael. He attended school at West Rowan High School. Daniel was a member of Fisher Street Baptist Church in Concord and a former student of Bethel Colony of Mercy in Lenoir. He returned to Bethel as a volunteer to assist in their ongoing ministry.

Daniel joined Rowan County EMS Explorers at a young age to learn EMS protocols and procedures. He then went on to join the Rowan County Sheriff's Office Explorers. These explorer programs peaked his interest in serving his community. From then to the time of his passing, he served Rowan County through volunteer and career positions at several local fire departments including Franklin, East Spencer, and Granite Quarry. Most recently he served Rowan County and beyond, responding to disasters with the American Red Cross. He proudly held the rank of Chief of Rowan's Disaster Action Team responding to local emergencies and assisting families after house fires or other natural disasters. In addition to his work at the Red Cross, he managed the NC Sales Office for Hoffman Radio Network. He lived a life of service before self and was proud to stand beside the men and women of Rowan County Emergency Services. He also enjoyed installing emergency lights and radios for county departments and personal vehicles. Daniel was a HAM Radio Operator-call sign KM4WLV.

Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Mildred Benson, raised and loved by his Papa and Grandmother, Don Michael, Sr. and Helen Michael, and brother-in-law, Shan Russ.
