Wallace Daniel Wagoner Sr., 84, of Gold Hill, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Carolina Healthcare System Stanly in Albemarle, NC.
He was born January 15, 1934 in Cabarrus County, NC to M. Jones Wagoner and Elsie Culp Wagoner. He graduated from Richfield High School and later retired as a truck driver after 30 years from Chemical Leamon Tanklines. Mr. Wagoner also worked in maintenance at Phieffer and in security at Uwharrie Point. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoors man. Mr. Wagoner was a member of the Lions club and Teamsters Union. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by his son, Glenn J. Wagoner; brothers, Marshall J. Wagoner, Jr., Robert C. "Bob" Wagoner, Ben B. Wagoner, and Wayne S. Wagoner; sisters, Mattie E. Russell and Margaret W. Barrier.
Wallace is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Mildred M. Wagoner; son, Dan Wagoner and wife Glenda of Salisbury, two grandsons, Tyler Wagoner and wife Laura and Jacob Wagoner; brother-in-law, Bill W. Barrier; sister-in-law, Irene W. Wagoner; former daughter-in-law, Regina Starnes, and special nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, November 24, 2018, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
The graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2018, in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Nikki Rae Rice and Rev. Jesse Howard officiating.
