Donald Ray "Donnie" Barlow, 71, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018.
He was born October 27, 1947, in North Wilkesboro, NC, to the late Hansel Ray Barlow and Ina Dean Smithey Barlow. Mr. Barlow was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving three years during Vietnam. He was a longtime employee of Cannon Mills in Kannapolis where he was a weaver and retired in 2012 from Piedmont Correctional in Salisbury where he was a Correctional Officer. Mr. Barlow was a humble and kind gentleman who had a servant's heart and always put others first. He enjoyed fishing and traveling to the mountains, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jolaine Barlow.
Mr. Barlow was a loving father figure to many and is survived by his son, Jonathan Ray Barlow; daughter, Toni Marie Rice; brother, David Barlow; six grandchildren, Amber Huggins, Melina Nance, Sherl Peak, James Barlow, Joshua Barlow, and Dylan Rice; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, November 16, 2018, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018, in the Moravian Falls Cemetery in Wilkesboro, with Rev. Joseph Sturgill officiating.
