Obituary

Sergeant Gary Lee Allison, 70, of Rockwell, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 surrounded by his family.

He was born July 12, 1948 in Marion, NC to the late Walter and Georgia Fore Allison. Gary was a graduate of Charles D. Owen High School in Black Mountain and of Pefiffer University where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice.

Gary was a retired Line Sergeant for the North Carolina Highway Patrol, retiring in 1998 after 28 years of service. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam in Germany as a MP. After retiring Gary worked for JKS Inc. as a show car driver.

He was a member of Ministries of Living Waters Church.

Gary's greatest joy were his grandchildren. He loved all things motorized, camping, and volunteering. He was a member of the Rowan County Rescue Squad, the Rockwell City Fire Department, and the Rowan County Sheriff's Department.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Millie Watts; grandson, Gavin Littleton; and brother Tommy Allison.

Gary is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Amy R. Allison, whom he married February 23, 1973; daughters, Jennifer A. Littleton and husband Todd of Salisbury, Keri A. Watts and husband Josh of Rockwell; granddaughters, Lexie Littleton, Laney Littleton, Brie Littleton, Maddie Watts, and Mazie Watts; grandson, Jude Watts; brother, Ricky Allison and wife Jan of Black Mountain; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Thursday, November 1, 2018, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Destiny City Church, 2324 S Main St, Salisbury, NC 28147.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 1, 2018, in the Destiny City Church with Floyd Howard, officiating.

Burial will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens with honors provided by the NC Highway Patrol.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Gary to the donor's choice.
