Joseph Terrill Harris Jr., 73, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston Salem, NC.

Joe, Jr. was born January 26, 1945 in Cumberland, NC to the late Joseph and Leola Cain Harris. He was a graduate of Cape Fear High School, and attended RCCC. Joe, Jr. was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the Rockwell AMVETS # 845. Joe, Jr. retired from Norfolk Southern as an Engineer after 36 years, he was a member of Faith Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, played the handbells and volunteered regularly.

Joe, Jr. loved playing the guitar, the keyboard, woodworking, model trains and working on his property. "He was a kind, willing person who would help anyone he could."

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by brothers, David Harris and Len Harris; and step son, Herbert W. Reichelt.

Joseph is survived by his wife Bonnie Robinson Harris, whom he married on November 29, 1991; son, Joseph T. Harris, III and wife Annette of Salisbury; daughter, Peggy Sue Harris of Salisbury; granddaughters, Annie Reichelt, and Grace Reichelt; grandsons, Andrew Mekebak and wife Hailey, and Jacob Harris; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth R. Dougherty and husband Sean; step daughter, Catherine R. Tieman and husband Keith; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Mekebak and Athena Mekebak; brothers, Lonnie Harris, Butch Harris, and James Harris; sister, Jeanette Franklin; sister-in-law, Donna Harris; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, in the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC, with Rev. Tim Barnette, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Joe, Jr. may be made to Trellis Supportive Care 301 South Main Street, Salisbury NC 28144.
