Rev. George N. Sheppard, 86, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his home in Salisbury, NC.
He was born December 21, 1931 in Forest City, NC to Nural Hathran and Glessia McGaha Sheppard. He graduated from Cool Springs High School and attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College and Central Piedmont Community College. George completed his Wesleyan Ministerial Studies and was ordained in 2008.
After his military service in the Marine Corps, George worked as a Printer and Electronic Technician. He retired from Intermec Technologies and served as a pastor at St. Paul Wesleyan Church, Foster Street Wesleyan Church and Denton Hoover's Grove Wesleyan Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a former member of Harrisburg Rescue Squad & Fire Department and a computer guru.
George is survived by his wife, Martha, whom he married on March 20, 1977. He has three daughters, Beverly Jeanne Carpenter (husband, Brand), Barbara Ann Thompson, and Angela Eury-Johnson (husband, Ray) and two sons, George Sheppard, Jr and Daryll Wesley Duncan (wife, Andrea). He is also survived by 12 grand-children, 9 great grand-children, 3 great great grand-children and three sisters, Imogene Wallace, Nancy Airial, and Naomi Hammond.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, in the Powles Staton Funeral Home Chapel. The services will be conducted by Rev. James Brewer, Rev. Ray Johnson and Rev. Scott Whitener.
The burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the US National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with Military Honors conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard.
