Reverend Floyd William Bost, 90 of Salisbury entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Glenn Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury. Floyd was born July 11, 1928 in Rowan County, the son of Holland and Grace Freeze Bost. He was a graduate of Landis High School, Newberry College and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. During his 63 years in ministry Pastor Bost served Immanuel Lutheran Church - Rockwell, Christ Lutheran - Fairfax Virginia, St. Paul’s - Salisbury, Zion Lutheran - Hickory and Prince of Peace Lutheran - Salisbury. In retirement he served as interim pastor at St. Stephens - Gold Hill, Faith - Faith and Wittenburg - Granite Quarry. He and his wife, Bonnie enjoyed traveling in their RV, especially with friends Rev. C.P. and Martha Fisher. An avid golfer, and hunter, he was a past member of the Salisbury Lion’s Club, Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society, Rufty-Holmes Singing Seniors and St. Paul’s Friendship Club, and past-President of Rowan Cooperative Christian Ministry (now Rowan Helping Ministries). He and Bonnie entertained many church, social and civic groups as “Country Boy Floyd”.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 71 years, Bonnie Edwards Bost, daughters Karen (Tim) Deal of Salisbury, Wanda (Dennis) Thomas of Owingsville Kentucky, and son Dana (Crystal) Bost of Salisbury; Grandchildren David and Jeff Deal, William Carpenter, Kristen Toy, Khara Struble and Holland Bost; Great-Grandchildren Brady and Baylor Bost, AJ Struble, Ethan, Sawyer, Jilian and Luke Deal, and baby girl Deal (due in November); sisters Hazel Freeze, Alta Christy, Frances Hill and Helen Craig; and brothers Gene, Jerry and Tom Bost. In addition to his parents, Pastor Bost was preceded in death by brothers Junious and Carl Bost; sisters Dorothy Karriker, Mary Benfield Snowberger and Carolyn McLaughlin.
The family will greet friends Sunday September 9, 2018 from 3:00 to 4:45 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with the service to follow at 5:00 at the church, officiated by the Reverend DJ Lura. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Capital Improvement Fund, 205 St. Paul’s Church Road Salisbury NC 28146.
