John Charles "Pa-Paw" Alexander, 77, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018.
He was born September 1, 1940, in Davie County to the late Theodore "Dorie" Alexander and Hazel Owen Alexander. Mr. Alexander was a 1958 graduate of Davie County High School and was a longtime employee of Norandal USA, remaining with the company for 29 years and retiring in 2005. A former 50 year member of Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church, he was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell where he was active with the Senior Saints. Mr. Alexander loved woodworking with a scroll saw and gardening. He was a loving son, father, and grandpaw, who never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Ervin Alexander, whom he married January 15, 1965; daughter, Paula Alexander Askew and husband, David, of Gold Hill; two grandchildren, Alexander C. Askew and Granger P. Askew; and special dog, Lucy.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, July 2, 2018, 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 2, in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Laughter, officiating.
Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.
