Carol “Lynn” Gobble Rogers of Salisbury went to be with her Lord on June 24, 2018, at the age of 55, while being surrounded by her family and friends on their annual beach vacation.
She was born November 21, 1962, in Rowan County. She was the daughter of the late Irvin Carroll Gobble and Mary Ann Furches Gobble.
Lynn graduated from North Rowan High School in 1981. She earned a Cosmetology Degree in 1982, a Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in 1984 and an Associate Registered Nursing Degree in 1986 from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. She then earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education in 1991 from Pfeiffer University.
On March 8, 1986, she married Kendal Hoke Rogers of Salisbury. Lynn was employed as a nurse at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for over 32 years. She was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where she attended the Believers Sunday School Class, the Unity Circle and loved to help with Bible School each year.
Christ was the center of her world, along with her husband, children, friends and beloved animals. Along with volunteering on the Parent Teacher Association and being a grade-parent, she spent a lot of her time participating as a team mom on her sons’ sports teams. She loved to cheer them on at their numerous athletic events. Lynn’s sons and numerous nieces and nephews all enjoyed her competitive spirit. Lynn and her sister, Ann, earned a variety of medals at the Senior Games participating in one of her life-long favorite sports of softball. Lynn played most sports that involved throwing a ball, though her favorite pastime was Pickleball. She was active with the DRC Pickleball Group and partnered with Kendal and Ann to win many medals over the last few years in Pickleball tournaments and the Senior Games. Lynn also helped with decorating and planning for numerous Pickleball charity events. If any activity asked for a willing hand and loving heart, Lynn was there, never asking for recognition. She never expected a pat on the back, though always sought to recognize others.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Kendal Rogers, children, Avery (fiancé, Rebecca Mendel) and Evan (significant other, Christa Stamler) all of Salisbury, her twin sister Ann Barkley (Johnny) of Linwood and brother Frank Gobble (Gina) of Salisbury, along with numerous nieces and nephews, a great-nephew and close family friend, Joy Gerock from Salisbury.
Lynn was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend and a true treasure has gone to be with the Lord.
