Mrs. Jean Williamson Speight Poplin, 75, of Salisbury passed away at her residence on June 17, 2018.
Mrs. Poplin was born November 11, 1942 in Rowan County. Daughter of the late Coy Williamson and Esther Shores Williamson.
Mrs. Poplin was a high school graduate and attended Rowan Technical College. She was a bookkeeper at Grove Supply and also worked at Pat and Micks Seafood Restaurant.
She was a life member of AMVETS Post 845 Ladies Auxiliary, Sigma Graydale Sorority and Iota Psi Sorority, Past board member of Hemophilia of NC and RCATF, the Chairperson of the Matt Speight Memorial-Make A Difference Day and she was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Monroe Poplin, her son Matt Speight, brothers Jerry Williamson and David Williamson, sisters, Loraine Drye and Judy Earnhardt.
Mrs. Poplin is survived by her daughters Cheryl Mendez and husband Carlos of Salisbury and Scottie Davis and husband Ron of Salisbury, step son Mark Poplin and wife Kelly of Norwood, sisters Pat Kluttz of Salisbury, Vickie Parham of Kannapolis and Linda Hedenskog of Salisbury, sister in laws Ann Williamson and Carole Poplin. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Powles Staton Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 20th from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 12:30 PM at Nazareth Community Church conducted by Pastor Mike Shoaf. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.
