Nell Jacqueline Beaver Bernhardt, 83, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018.

She was born June 16, 1934, in Rowan County to the late George Robert Lewis Beaver and Irene Miller Beaver. Mrs. Bernhardt was a graduate of Rockwell High School where she played basketball and was an all-state forward; she then attended and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne Business College. She was employed by Citizens Savings & Loan for over 30 years, most of those years as a Mortgage Loan Officer. A life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rockwell, she was active in the church through serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Luther League Youth Advisor, President of the LCW, member of the Women's Circle, member of the church choir, and singing in church cantatas. Mrs. Bernhardt was also a member of the Eastern Star-Rockwell Chapter No. 317.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband whom she married July 31, 1954, Bobby Gene Bernhardt and who passed away September 9, 2005; daughter, Tamara G. Bernhardt; and siblings, Thelma Bost, Ruth Lyerly, Guy Beaver, Carl Beaver, Myrle Yerton, Grey Lentz, Gene Beaver, Bob J. Beaver, and George R.L. Beaver, Jr.

Mrs. Bernhardt is survived by her children, Lynn Bernhardt Myers and husband, Ronnie, of Salisbury, Mark Bernhardt and wife, Alison, of Raleigh, and Kay Ledbetter Meilinger and husband, Joe, of Rockwell; sister, Frances Holshouser of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jake Myers and wife, Erin, of Rockwell, Charlie Myers and wife, Melisa of Salisbury, Thomas Bernhardt of Chapel Hill, Catherine Bernhardt of Chapel Hill, and Michael Meilinger of Calabash; and great-grandchildren, Davis and Kyndal Myers of Rockwell, Emma, Olin, Alli, and Cole Myers of Salisbury.

The family will visit with friends and relatives from 2:00-2:45 PM on Thursday, May 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 PM on Thursday in the church sanctuary, conducted by Rev. Bruce Sheeks. The Eastern Star will be seated as a group during the service. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
