Betty Jean Fesperman Shinn, 83, of Rockwell, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury, NC.

She was born October 11, 1934 in Rowan County, NC to the late Hurley and Margie Drye Fesperman. Betty was a member of Rockwell United Methodist Church for over 55 years; she worked for Cannon Mills for over 40 years, retiring from Fieldcrest Cannon in 1997. Betty loved to bake cakes and pies for family, friends and church functions. She loved to travel, she and Coy Ray went on many bus tours, seeing the United States and Canada. She loved to work in her garden, dance (line and square dance), get her hair done (thanks Nadja!), dress up, and go to senior citizens clubs, church meetings, and dinners. Betty was a member of the local "Red Hat Society" (thanks Wanda).

Betty is survived by her children, JR Honeycutt and wife Betty of Prosperity, SC, Mike Shinn and wife Cindy, Sharon Honeycutt Miller and husband Donnie, and DeeRay Shinn and wife Robbin all of Rockwell; grandsons, David, Casey, Wesley, Garret, Jordan, and Josh; granddaughters, Tammy, Tina, Jessica, Sara, Maranda, and Madison; and 11 and soon to be 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband who was the love of her life, Coy Ray Shinn in 1993; brother, Charles Fesperman, and sister, Edith who died at birth.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Thursday, February 8, 2018, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Rockwell United Methodist Church, Rockwell, NC.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2018, in the Rockwell United Methodist Church, Rockwell, NC, with Rev. Charles Curtis, officiating. Burial will follow in the Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
