Jacqueline Walker "Jackie" Ewart, 77, of Rockwell, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018.
She was born April 29, 1940, in Rockwell to the late Eric and Edna Hammill Walker. Mrs. Ewart attended Rockwell High School and was a life long member of Rockwell United Methodist Church where she was active with J.V. Hall Sunday School Class and the hand bell choir. She worked as a seamstress at Carolina Maid and retired from Rowan County Senior Services where she managed the Lower Stone Meal Site. Mrs. Ewart enjoyed camping in the mountains and at the coast, decorating wedding cakes, quilting, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ewart was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Samuel Ewart, who passed away December 29, 2011, and brothers, James Walker, Floyd Walker, Willie Walker, and Harmon Walker.
She is survived by her sons, John Calvin Ewart of Rockwell and Samuel Dean Ewart and wife, Lori, of Faith; brothers, Gerald Walker and Clyde Walker; sisters, Nancy Davenport and Mary Hill; grandchildren, Ashley Page and husband, Tim, Emilee Torrence and husband, Wil, Samantha Ewart and Trent, Colby Ewart, Derek Ewart and wife, Kaitlyn, Joshua Ewart and Julie, Lauren Miller and husband, Matt, and Weston Ewart; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Rockwell United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Charlie Curtis, pastor. Burial will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
