Colleen Virginia Cook Shuping, 88, of Rockwell, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018.
She was born October 28, 1929, in Kannapolis to the late Joseph Canaire Cook and Blanche Cook Query. She attended school at J.T. Allen School and was a seamstress for Cannon Mills in Kannapolis.
Mrs. Shuping was a former member of Organ Lutheran Church and was an avid reader. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family gatherings.
In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ray Shuping, sisters, Frances Hickman and Sammie Ellis, and granddaughter, Shannon Nichols.
Mrs. Shuping is survived by her children, Cynthia Nichols of Rockwell, Rusty Shuping and wife, Laurie, of Rockwell, and Mita Powlas and husband, Jeff, of Rockwell, sisters, Luetta Lemmond of Concord, Audrey Bare of Columbia, SC, grandchildren, Jessica Nichols Haller, Ashley Powlas Young, Natalie Powlas Tippins, Amber Shuping Lingerfeldt, Megan Shuping Garmon, Hailey Powlas Smith, and Garrett Powlas, and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in the Powles Staton Funeral Home Chapel, Rockwell, NC, with Rev. DJ Lura, officiating.
Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, conducted by Pastor Ray Johnson
