James Carr "Ford" Morgan, 88, of Granite Quarry, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
He was born September 30, 1929 in Rowan County, NC to the late James and Lillie Trexler Morgan. He was a 1947 graduate of Rockwell High School, and a graduate of the United Electronics Lab in Louisville, KY. James was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War, he worked as a Radio Repairman for the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
James was a member of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge # 657, Salisbury York Rite Bodies, and Oasis Shrine. He was also a member and Past President of the Granite Quarry American Legion Post 448.
He enjoyed singing, hunting, and fishing trips to the coast with former class mates. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grand dog, Andy.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sisters, Eula Morgan, Remelle Morgan and Irene Carter, brothers, Robert Morgan, Floyd Morgan and Kenneth Morgan.
James is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Della Mae Morgan, whom he married July 1, 1953; daughter, Pamela Morgan Vellines and husband Wayne of Salisbury, NC; granddaughter, Janice Vellines Goodman and husband Tommy of Salisbury; two great-grandsons, Justin A. Goodman and Tyler B. Goodman.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, December 22, 2017, 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 22, 2017, in the Powles Staton Funeral Home Chapel, Rockwell, NC, with Rev. Mitch Sewell officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
