Estella Sexton Hamby, 70, of Gold Hill, passed away peacefully and with family present after a long battle with cancer on Friday, November 10, 2017. She was born September 1, 1947, in Jenkins, KY, to the late Corbin Sexton and Myrtle Sloan Sexton.
Mrs. Hamby attended school in Letcher County, KY. She was a caregiver providing in-home care. She enjoyed shopping and her pets, but truly loved just being at home.
Mrs. Hamby is survived by her husband, Carl Hamby, whom she married December 20, 1980, children, James Doyle Seals, Jr., Gregory Allen Seals, and Scotty Lee Seals, all of Gold Hill, Scott Lee Hamby and wife, Pam, of Salisbury, and Jennifer Hamby Foster and husband, John, of China Grove, and three grandchildren, Kayla Hamby Williams and husband, Shane, of Huntersville, Brittany Hamby of Charlotte, and Simon Foster of China Grove.
The family will visit with friends and relatives from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Tuesday in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Ray Johnson. Interment will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens located at 8675 US Highway 52 in Rockwell, NC.
