Jerry Dale "Jake" Morgan, 80, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home.
He was born October 3, 1937 in Salisbury, NC to the late Chester and Alma Troutman Morgan. Jake was a 1956 graduate of Rockwell High School, and a 1957 graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel School. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he served numerous times on church council, served on various committees, and helped with Meals on Wheels. Jake was a Charter Member of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department where he volunteered for over 55 years, he was also a First Responder and was awarded Liberty First Responder of the year in 2014.
Jake enjoyed volunteering at the Liberty Fire Department chicken and dumpling dinners, he enjoyed fishing at the Outer Banks, antiquing, and going to auctions and estate sales.
Jake loved his family, church and community, and loved to help anyone he could.
Jake is survived by his sister, Phyllis M. Cornelison and husband Jim of Salisbury; brother, Loy C Morgan of New Bern; sister-in-law, Gail Morgan of Salisbury; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Sunday, October 22, 2017, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC, and on Monday, October 23,2017, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm at St. Peters Lutheran Church. The family will be at the home of Phyllis and Jim Cornelison the remainder of the time.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, October 23, 2017, in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC, with Rev. Sean Barrett, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Jake may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Preschool 2570 St. Peters Church Rd. Salisbury NC 28146.
