Francis “Shorty” Bernard Freeland, 80, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury, surrounded by family.
He was born on February 17, 1937 in Steubenville, OH to the late Francis and Mildred Rowe Freeland.
He was a member of Salisbury Christian Fellowship Church and he worked as a Tool and Die Maker in the steel industry. Francis was a avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed playing golf and going hunting. Family though was his greatest love, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his a sister, Lucinda Butler.
Francis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Louise Freeland; two sons, Ralph (Debbie) Freeland of Israel, and Danny (Erin) Freeland of Goose Creek, SC; three daughters, Terri (Eric) Blankenship of Salisbury, Kathy (Jerrel) Whiteside of Magnolia, TX, and Cindy (Todd) DeFelice of New Cumberland, WV; brother, Oliver (Judy) Freeland of Weirton, WV; sister, Becky (Gary) McCaig of Weirton, WV; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Casey, Rachel (Daniel) Thomas, Elizabeth DeFelice, Trey (Brittany) Whiteside, Ryan Freeland, Michael DeFelice, Sean Freeland; and seven great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Powles Staton Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Pastors, Jim Howard and Don Vess.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made at the American Heart Association (4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979).
