Bobby Gene Bowers, 79, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He was born June 14, 1938, in Rowan County, NC, to the late Hurley W. and Rose Holshouser Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was a graduate of Boyden High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving four years of active duty and four years with Atlantic Research. He was the owner of Bowers Performance Center in Salisbury and enjoyed drag racing and NASCAR. A member of the Masonic Lodge and an Oasis-Shriner, Mr. Bowers was a professed Christian and was raised in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Michael, Gene, and Robert Bowers.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra Nicholson Bowers, children, Christine Brown, Susan Snider, and Teresa Newport, all of Curlew, Washington, Kenny Bowers of Florida, Kelly McCarthy of Asheville, and Allison Huffman of China Grove, brothers, Larry and Paul Bowers, both of Berkeley Springs, WV, ten grandchildren, and a handful of great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends and relatives from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Tuesday, September 12, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home. Interment with Military Graveside Rites will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
