George “Wayne” Pickler, 49, of Rockwell, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017. He was born June 14, 1968, in Rowan County, NC to Theresa Miller Pickler and Grady K. “Junior” Pickler.
Mr. Pickler was a 1986 graduate of East Rowan High School and later attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College, studying to become an HVAC technician. He was employed for over 20 years with Food Lion in Maintenance and as a HVAC technician before becoming employed by UNC-Charlotte in their Maintenance and HVAC Department. He attended Grace Lower Stone Church where he was a youth counselor. Mr. Pickler was a Mason and member of Keller Memorial Lodge # 657 and was a former member of the Rowan Shrine Club. An avid Carolina fan, he enjoyed everything that life had to offer, especially being outdoors; he thoroughly enjoyed traveling to the beach, attending ballgames, coon hunting, being on the river, and “goofing off” on the four wheeler.
Mr. Pickler was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George B. Miller and paternal grandmother, Anice Campbell.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dana Wilson Pickler, whom he married October 18, 2014, children, Lexi Abigail Pickler, Graci George Anne Pickler, Wilson Samuel Holshouser, and Solomon Micah Holshouser, all of Rockwell, brother, Brian Pickler of Lincolnton, maternal grandmother, Marjorie Miller of Rockwell, mother and father-in-law, Danny and Kay Wilson of Rockwell, and faithful companion, Web.
The family will visit with friends and relatives from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 4, 2017, in Grace Lower Stone Church, conducted by Rev. Steven DeGangi and Rev. John Houghton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
