Dennis Avery Overcash, 56, of China Grove, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House surrounded by family. Mr. Overcash was born on July 16, 1960, in Rowan County to Loy Overcash and the late Dessie Birchmore Overcash.
Dennis was a member of First Reformed Church of Landis and a 1978 graduate of South Rowan High School. He worked for the Piedmont Correctional Institute before starting his own business as a Massage Therapist where he enjoyed helping people. Describing him as an avid Tarheel fan would be an understatement, Dennis rarely missed watching a game. His favorite trip with his family was the one they took to Alaska as a graduation trip for his daughter and to Niagara Falls. Dennis loved to spend time with his family and friends, as well as his dogs, which were always Great Danes. For the last fourteen years, he has fought a courageous battle with Carcinoid Cancer; he has and he did it with the best attitude you could imagine.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gwyn Graham Overcash; his only daughter, Desirae Overcash Fesperman and husband Ben of Salisbury; a brother, Rick Overcash and wife Gwynn Shive Overcash of Salisbury; and many close friends, church families, and numerous others that have been there for him and his family throughout his battle.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell, conducted by Pastor David Franks and Pastor Jeff Cole. A Celebration of his Life will follow at 1:00 PM on Saturday at First Reformed Church of Landis, conducted by Pastor David Franks.
