Neil Allen Marcum, 73, of Salisbury, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at his home in Salisbury, NC.

He was born on August 20, 1943 to the late Guy and Mary Whorley German in Columbus, OH. Neil was a 1961 graduate of Reynoldsburg High School. Neil worked for and retired from Norfolk Southern as a Locomotive Engineer. Neil was an artist, he also enjoyed wood working, golf and fishing.

Neil was a Member of Wittenburg Lutheran Church, where he served on Church Council, and was a member of the Wittenburg Lutheran Men in Mission.

He was a 50 year Member and Past Master of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge # 657, he is member of the Salisbury York Right Bodies, a member of Oasis Shrine and a member of and Past president of the Rowan County Shrine Club.

In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by Brother, Ron Marcum, and Sister, Susan Marcum.

Neil is survived by his Wife of over 52 years, Brenda Elizabeth Marcum, whom he married September 5, 1964; Son, Todd Allen Marcum of Salisbury; Daughter, Jennifer Marcum Hicks and husband Tommy of High Point; Granddaughter, Kathryn Anne Marcum; Grandson, Luke Allen Marcum; Two Sisters, Roberta Russ and husband Jim, and Judith Duncan and husband Tex; Brother, Robert Marcum and partner Be.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Wittenburg Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, 1:00 pm at the Wittenburg Lutheran Church , Granite Quarry, NC, with Rev. Ed Harper officiating.

Memorials may be made to In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Neil may be made to Wittenburg Lutheran Church or to Hospice and Pallaitive Care of Rowan County. .
