Mary Ruth Miller passed away peacefully at Genesis Healthcare in Salisbury on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. She was born on June 21, 1922, the oldest daughter of Paul Henderson Wagoner and Katie Parker Wagoner. She was a devoted wife for 46 years to her husband, Floyd David Miller, whom she married on April 6, 1946 until his passing on May 18, 1992.
"Mamaw Miller", which she was affectionately called by all who loved her, worked in the #6 Weave Room at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis for many years. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, flowers and her housekeeping. She was a joy to be around and she always made her nursing assistants at Genesis laugh with her witty humor.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Rockwell.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents; husband Floyd; younger sister, Lillie Mae Wagoner Hopkins; brother Ray Wagoner; niece Shirley Eudy; and nephew Alex Wagoner.
She is survived by her brother, Samual Lee Wagoner of Seattle, Wash.; nephew Ray Goodman, who considered her his second mother, and his wife Dianne and their children: Eric, Melinda and Bryce. Also surviving are nephews Billy Hopkins (Wanda) of Cleveland, Mark Hopkins (Bumper) of Gold Hill, William Lee Wagoner (Natalie) of Gold Hill, Glenn Hopkins (Vivian) of Gold Hill, and Robert Wagoner of Seattle; one niece, Cynthia Costello (Greg) of Seattle; and all of the nieces and nephews' children.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Genesis Healthcare for all of the tender loving care they gave Mrs. Miller for the last 3 years.
