Bonnie Kay Trexler Basinger, 67, of Rockwell, passed away on December 29, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was the loving wife of Coy Emanuel Basinger whom she married August 24, 1969.
Bonnie was born on September 24, 1949 to the late Junius Paige (J.P.) and Alma Coble Trexler. Bonnie was a 1967 graduate of East Rowan High School. Bonnie worked as a cosmetologist for a short time, then in several mills in Rowan County, before becoming a devoted homemaker to her husband and children. A lifelong member of the Lutheran faith she attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church and Organ Lutheran Church. Bonnie was a dedicated member of Organ Lutheran church where she attended women's group and the Saints and Sinners Sunday School Class. Some of her fondest memories were crocheting for family and friends, hosting Christmas parties, and making oatmeal cookies for the church.
In addition, to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Paige Trexler, and her granddaughter, Amber Denise Basinger. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Coy Emanuel Basinger, three daughters, Sandy Basinger, Lori Basinger Langford and husband Keith Langford, and Wendy Basinger and grandsons, Bryson and Carson Langford of Rockwell. Also, she is survived by her sister, Bobbie Lyerly, and husband Jim, and brother, Jerry Trexler and wife Phyllis. Bonnie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews that she cherished.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home.
Service: The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Organ Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Carlin Ours, Pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
