Shellie May (Bost) Heglar, 54, of Rockwell, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Brian Heglar to whom she was married 34 years.
Shellie was born on October 26, 1962 in Florida and grew up in Rowan County, NC. She graduated from East Rowan High School in 1981
Shellie was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell. She was very involved in the church, especially with the women and children's ministries, and Bible study. She also traveled within the community as a public support speaker for the church.
Shellie was very involved in the local school system. She enjoyed lending her sewing talents to the local youth dance companies. She was a very talented baker, and loved to bake cakes and cupcakes for the community when they were needed. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed time spent at the beach.
She was a fighter, especially through her illness, and was a Cystic Fibrosis advocate. She never let her sickness get her down. She planned to "live herself to death" and often voiced that there was "no expiration" on her life.
Most of all, her family was the most important part of her life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her husband Brian, Shellie is survived by: four children: Desi Heglar of Langley, VA, Tori Harris and husband Jonathan of Rockwell, Wess Heglar, and Levi Heglar of Rockwell; her parents: Hugh and Peggy Bost of Salisbury; grandson, James Harris; two sisters, Rita Rader Taylor and husband Robert of Rockwell, and Melissa Griggs of Salisbury; one brother, Coy Bost and wife Debbie of Rockwell; father and mother-in-law, Don and Myra Heglar of Rockwell; two brother-in-laws: Bruce Heglar and wife Penny and Keith Heglar and wife Kim; and numerous nieces and nephews.
