Vie Purcell, 94, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 while in the care of Catawba Regional Hospice, Sherrills Ford, NC.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, December 12 at Powles Staton Funeral Home, 913 W. Main Street, Rockwell, NC, conducted by Rev. Ken Curtis pastor of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Sherrills Ford, NC. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC.
Vie was born June 1, 1922 on Surry County, NC, a daughter of the late Hubert and Maggie Simpson Ring. She spent most of her working career in retail sales, and after raising her family, she moved to Pinehurst where she resided with her husband, Bill, for 40 years. She enjoyed working in her yard, watching and caring for her back yard birds and most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Vie was preceded in death by her husbands, David Brown and Bill Purcell. She is survived by her son, Gene Brown and wife, Jan of Sherrills Ford, three grandchildren, the loves of her life, Billy Brooks of Los Angles, CA, Kaitlin Brown of Charlotte, and Allison Brown of Hermosa Beach, CA; and two sisters, Bonnie Harper of Rocky Mount and Betsy Chatham and husband, Jack of Greensboro.
