Edna Jane (Owens) Cole, 76, of Granite Quarry, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Glen Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late William Melvin Cole, Sr.
Edna was born on October 15, 1939 in Abbeville, SC where she grew up and graduated from High School. She spent most of her life in Granite Quarry, NC where she was a member of the Granite Quarry Civitan Club and very involved in the local community.
Edna was a loving homemaker and mother, devoting her life to raising and caring for her family. She loved to spend time in the outdoors, especially in her garden tending to her flowers. Edna's family was the most important part of her life, she loved being involved in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives and treasured her time spent with them above all.
Edna is survived by her three children: Glenn Cole of Winchester, TN, William "Bill" Melvin Cole, Jr. and partner Kurt Karis of Cleveland, Ohio, and Tonya Parnell and husband Bob of Salisbury, NC; one sister, Sarah Wardlaw of Laurens, SC; three grandchildren: Amy Wilson and husband Dustin of McHenry, MS, Bobby Parnell and wife Maegan of Rockwell, NC and Adam Parnell of Concord, NC; and three great-grandchildren: Cole Wilson, Ava Parnell, and Caroline Parnell. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
A private family graveside inurnment will take place at a later date in the Salisbury National Veterans Cemetery.
