Helen Fesperman Cranford, 94, of Rockwell, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Autumn Care of Salisbury after years of declining health. Born March 28, 1922, in Cabarrus County, Helen was the daughter of the late Carl Lee and Estelle Dabbs Fesperman.
She was educated in the Rowan County School System and Salisbury Business School.
She had retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 11 in Rockwell on June 1, 1986 after 46 years of service.
Helen was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She was also a charter member of Miller Russell American Legion Auxiliary #112. Helen was a member and Past Matron of the Rockwell Chapter #317, The Order of the Eastern Star, she enjoyed traveling around to the various Chapters with her special Daughter-in-law, Shirley Cranford.
Helen had also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, D.C. (Red) Cranford, great granddaughter, Rylan Hope Trexler and brothers Carl Lee Fesperman, Jr., Charlie Ray Fesperman, John Phillip Fesperman and Eugene Fesperman and a sister, Edna Upton Yost and Step-Son Ronald (Tony) Cranford.
Helen is survived by her sons, Chris Cranford and wife Kathy of Rockwell, Tim Cranford and wife Debbie of Salisbury. Step-Children, Gwenn Walker Hampton (Liberty Commons) and husband Frank of Rockwell, Johnny Cranford and wife Jane of Alpharetta, Georgia and Daughter-in-law Shirley Poole Cranford of Salisbury. Sisters Frances (Detta) Moss and Lois Beaver both of Rockwell.
Helen is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Bridget, Jenna, Amanda, David (DC) and Matthew Davis, and three great grandchildren Emmy, Brylee and Jaxon and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Autumn Care of Salisbury for their wonderful care and for all the nice comments about our Mother.
A visitation will be on Thursday, September 15th from 6-7:30 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be on Friday, September 16th at 1 pm at St. James Lutheran Church, Rockwell, conducted by Rev. Jason Huebner, Pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
