Tommy Edward Mitchell, 59, of Faith, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at his home in Faith, NC.
He was born on September 6, 1956 to the late James and Aurelia Cornatzer Mitchell in Salisbury, NC. He attended school at East Rowan High School, Tommy worked as a Truck Driver for Auto Driveaway. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during Vietnam.
Tommy was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockwell. He enjoyed NASCAR and being outdoors, and loved spending time with his friends and family.
Tommy is survived by his Wife of over years 41 years Robin Beck Mitchell , whom he married December 22, 1974; Two Sons, Chad Mitchell and wife Allison, and Matthew Mitchell and wife Cryssie all of Faith; Daughter, Alesha Virden and husband Jason of Concord; Brother, Butch Mitchell of Salisbury; Two Sisters, Patsy Arey of Rockwell, and Connie French and husband Ray of Salisbury; Three Granddaughters, Taya Thomas, Alexandria Mitchell, and Alice Mitchell; Two Grandsons, Louie Virden, and Joshua Mitchell.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 19, 2016, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 4:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Rockwell, Rockwell, with Rev. Matthew Laughter, officiating. Burial will take place in the First Baptist Church of Rockwell Cemetery with Military graveside rites provided by the NC National Guard and the Rowan County Honor Guard.
