Mr. Johnny Ray Blackwelder, Sr., 50 of Rockwell passed away on June 8, 2016. Mr. Blackwelder was born on June 21, 1965 in Rowan County, son of Sandra Hathcock Dixon and the late Billy Ray Blackwelder.
Mr. Blackwelder was educated in the Rowan County Schools and he received his GED from Rowan Tech and he was a Truck Driver. He was a member of Rockwell United Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and also enjoyed his rose bushes. He enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing.
He built model cars in his spare time. He also enjoyed watching Andy Griffith reruns on TV.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Blackwelder.
Survivors include his mother Sandra H. Dixon and husband Jerry of Rockwell; sons Johnny Ray Blackwelder, Jr. and wife Felisha of Rockwell, Nathan Robert Graham of Seffner, Florida, daughters Nikki M. Leonard and husband Derrick of Rockwell, Tiffany E. Blackwelder of Salisbury, Natalie R. Graham of Seffner, Florida.
He is also survived by his brother Michael A. Dixon and wife Brenda of Rockwell, sister Sherri D. Kennedy and husband Alan of Fayetteville and by 8 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Powles Staton Funeral Home on Sunday June 12, 2016 from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm. There will be a service at a later date.
