Jerry Lynn Drye, of Rockwell passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. He was born on May 20, 1947 the son of the late Marvin Franklin Drye and the late Annie Mae Troutman Drye. He was educated in Rowan County schools and was a 1965 graduate of South Rowan High School. He worked for Duke Energy in construction until transfering to the main office in Charlotte until his retirement. He loved to farm, sing in the church choir and was the lead singer of the gospel group "Soldiers of the Cross of Christ". He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Robin Barrier Drye who he married on July 4, 1984. Son; Chuck Drye, Sr. and wife Kara of Rockwell. Daughter; Nancy D. Burton and husband David of Salisbury. Five grandchildren; Chuck Drye, Jr., Will Drye, Ashley Drye, Zander Burton and Drew Burton.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church at 4:00 pm with the Rev. Rafe Allison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 3:00-4:00 pm prior to church service.
