Betty Jean File Holshouser, 86, of Salisbury passed away on April 29, 2016 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury. She was born on February 26, 1930 in Rowan County the daughter of the late George Alexander File and the late Jesse Kate Porter File. She was a 1947 graduate of Boyden High School. She was a cafeteria worker at Granite Quarry Elementary school until her retirement. She also had worked for Woolworth's and had many friends that she stayed in contact with. She was a proud member of the Rockwell Order of the Eastern Star where she held the station of Marshall. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and singing in the church choir. A member of St. Luke's Reformed Church where she was a lifelong member of the Womens Fellowship and a member of the Livingood, Wood, Peeler American Legion Auxillary.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl A. Holshouser on April 2, 2005 and sister Doris F. Ritchie.
Survivors include her daughters; Carol H. Harper and husband Tom of Hickory and Laura H. Williamson and husband Bob of Salisbury.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Powles Staton Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 2, 2016 at St. Luke's Reformed Church with the Rev. Jon Schell, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
