Brenda Sue Murph Smith, 68, of Gold Hill, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.
Brenda was born on November 22, 1947 to Mary Hill Murph and the late Roy Murph in Lexington, NC. She was a 1965 graduate of Lexington High School and a 2008 graduate of Rowan Cabarrus Community College. After graduating from RCCC with a degree in Medical Terminology, she then worked as an instructor within their College of Nursing Program until her retirement in July 2015. Prior to teaching, Brenda worked for KOSA (Hoechst-Celanese) for 15 years as a training instructor.
Brenda was a member of Lake Community Church. She enjoyed going to the beach, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Brenda is survived by her Husband of over 22 years, Bobby Gene Smith, whom she married on December 19, 1993; Two Daughters, Lorraine Emory and husband Lyn of Fort Knox, KY, and Sharon Hinesley and husband Scott of Charlotte; two step-daughters, Angela Bjorklund and husband Wes of Wake Forest, and Heather Aram and husband Jim of Haymarket, VA; Four Grandsons, Brock Emory, Luke Emory, Ben Hinesley, and Will Hinesley; Five Granddaughters, Alexandria Emory, Samantha Emory, Lydia Bjorklund, Kelsey Bjorklund, and Ella Bjorklund. Brenda is also survived by her faithful and loyal companion Maggie.
In addition to her Father, Brenda was preceded in death by a Daughter, Suzy Elaine Harrison
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 2:00 pm at the Lake Community Church, Salisbury, NC, with Pastors Ronnie Pinyan, and Ray Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
