Clarence A. "Red" Castor, 85, of Rockwell passed away at his home surrounded by family on Friday, April 22, 2016. He was born on December 13, 1930 in Rowan County, son of the late Henry Monroe Castor and Anna Basinger Castor.
Mr. Castor attended Parks School, was a 1949 graduate of China Grove High School and attended Catawba College. He was part owner of Castor & Thompson Grocery Store for over 30 years, worked with Independent Wholesale in Kannapolis, and also worked part time with Rowan Salisbury School System at Knollwood Elementary School.
He was a former member of Organ Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, was financial secretary, and a member of the chancel choir. Mr. Castor was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was also a former member of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge 657 in Rockwell.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Rogers Castor, who he married on October 14, 1950; son, Bryan Monroe Castor (Christy) of Columbia, SC; daughters, Janice Castor Moser (Richard) of Rockwell and Traci Castor Anderson (Keith) of Rockwell; grandchildren, Matthew Corrigan (Jessica), Annie Corrigan Deal (Chase), Alex Castor, Kevin Castor and Lee Moser; great grandchildren, Lila and Violet Corrigan; and sister, Sylvia Castor Shue (Ken) of Greensboro.
Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00pm, Thursday, April 28, at Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 3020 Grace Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28147. A private family service will be held before the visitation.
