George Sheldon Sackett, Jr., 54, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017. He was born August 14, 1963, in Charlotte, NC, to Barbara Gray Sackett and the late George Sheldon Sackett, Sr.
Mr. Sackett was a 1981 Graduate of East Rowan High School. He was employed as a lathe operator at HBD Industries and was formerly employed by Perma-Flex for over 30 years. Mr. Sackett was a member of Spencer Moose Lodge, was a “river rat” who enjoyed boating and water skiing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marguerite Sackett, son, George S. Sackett, III, and fiancee, Brandy, of Salisbury, siblings, Sherry Klaith and husband, Greg, of Salisbury, Stephanie Desrochers and husband, Al, of New Hampshire, Coy Lee Keziah, III, and fiancee, Heidi, of Nevada, and Rebecca Hiatt and husband Timothy, of Salisbury, one grandson, George S. Sackett, IV, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will visit with friends and relatives from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2017, in the chapel of Powles Staton Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Michael Herring. Interment will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Powles Staton Funeral Home for his Memorial Bench at his gravesite.
