Ethel "Eloise" Peeler, 83, of Granite Quarry, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 .
She was born February 17, 1934, in Rowan County to the late M.J. and Annie Godwin Peeler. Miss Peeler was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School and retired as the Secretary to the President at Catawba College after 40+ years and six presidents. She was a member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church and served two terms on the Granite Quarry Board of Aldermen during which she was instrumental in establishing Granite Lake Park. After its establishment and as long as her health permitted, she enjoyed her morning walks with her dog, Sparkles, in the park. She loved Catawba College football, Duke University Athletics, and her Sunday evening gatherings with her church family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Alan Lamar Peeler, sister, Betty Julian, niece, Nita Julian, and her beloved dog, Sparkles.
Miss Peeler is survived by her nephew, Michael A. Peeler of Granite Quarry, great-niece, Dawn Peeler of Granite Quarry, great-nephew, Brian A. Peeler and wife, Daniela of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and great-great nephew, Donovan Peeler.
Upon her request, a graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in Wittenberg Lutheran Church's Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ed Harper.
