Daniel Harold Cross, better know as "Cream Puff" "Poppa" or "Dan", 80, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home in Salisbury, NC.
He was born February 18, 1938 in Syracuse, NY to the late Harold and Grace Wheeler Cross. Dan was a 1956 graduate of Lafayette High School in Upstate New York. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Dan was the owner and operator of State Fair Foods and Cross Creek Cattle. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the National Cattlemen's Association, the Red Angus Association and NICA. Dan loved his cows, checking baby calves, reading, and watching Yankees baseball, Tarheels basketball and Panthers football.
He never met a stranger, always had a smile, and made you feel important when you were in his presence. Dan loved his wife, children and grandchildren immensely.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his Brother, William "Bill" Cross.
Daniel is survived by his wife of over 38 years, Joyce Ramsing Cross, whom he married October 12, 1979; five daughters, Heather Serrano and husband Frank Gericitano of Naples, FL, Deborah Darby Pringle of Gold Hill, Rebecca Mary Darby of Davidson, Jennifer Joyce Blume and husband Scott of Gold Hill, and Danielle Cross Porter of Gold Hill; son, David Harold Darby of Salisbury; grandsons, Joshua Darby, Keith Pringle, and Daniel Porter; granddaughters, Shelby Pringle, Alexandra Kepley, Chloe Roberson, Abigail Jarem and Dakota Kepley; great-grandchildren, Griffin, Caroline and Noah Darby; brother, Thomas Cross; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, March 5, 2018, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC, with Rev. Sean Barrett, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
