Charles Augustus “Short” Sifford, 85, of Rockwell, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was born April 1, 1932, in Rowan County to the late Ernest and Ruth Virginia Kluttz Sifford.
Mr. Sifford was graduate of China Grove High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a Dairy Farmer and formerly attended Forestview Baptist Church in Concord. Mr. Sifford enjoyed the time he spent traveling in the western part of the United States and enjoyed mowing on his Massey Ferguson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Rinehardt.
Mr. Sifford is survived by his wife, Shirley Wright Sifford, whom he married May 23, 1953, son, Jeffrey Lynn Sifford and wife, Carolyn Lyles Sifford, of Hartsville, SC, daughter, Donna Sifford Ashley and husband, Steve Ashley, of Salisbury, grandson, Brandon Dale Sifford of Rockwell, and brothers, John Y. Sifford of Rockwell and Thomas Ray Sifford and wife, Janelle Wright Sifford, of Rockwell.
The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Robert Lovett and with music by Jeffrey Sifford, will follow at 3:00 PM in Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell. Military Graveside Rites will be rendered by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and NC National Guard.
