Anita Faye Redden, 79, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

She was born May 29, 1940, in Pickett County, TN to the late William Hassell and Opal Inez Garrett Gunter. Mrs. Redden was a homemaker and a member of Statesville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Before moving to Salisbury, Mrs. Redden was a member of the Red Hat Society in Kentucky. She always enjoyed thrift and bargain shopping, often looking for special items for those she might meet who had special needs. Her sense of generosity and compassion was evident throughout her life. She had a knack for looking for the good in others. Her lovely smile drew others to her, making conversation relaxed. People found Mrs. Redden to be a good listener and very accepting. Her adventurous spirit welcomed opportunities to travel. Some of her favorite trips were made in her husband’s homebuilt aircraft. In her early 30’s, she obtained her driver's license which made it even easier to be “on the go”. Favorite activities included being on a bowling league called “The Rolling Stones”, singing, listening to gospel music (especially played by her brother Ronnie, a self-taught professional piano player), visiting her siblings. Her children hold many treasured memories such going to Rocky Fork Lake for swimming and picnics, learning to sing The Lord’s Prayer, playing baseball and spending time with friends. The family felt that Anita’s corn bread was the best!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jewel Oscher, Glen Gunter, Melvin Gunter, and Ronnie Gunter.
